The Church of the Holy Rood,
Whorlton, half a mile east of Swainby, N.Yorks

Down the lane from the ruins of Whorlton Castle is the sign to the Whorlton Old Church, this is the Church of the Holy Rood.

Ruin
The ruins of the "Old Church" which dates from A.D.1140 and was abandoned around A.D.1875.

A number of mid-18C gravestones are still legible including that of Henry Corben who departed this life Nov 28th 1753 aged 19.
