Off the main street of Osmotherley, above the entrance to an alleyway, called Chapel Yard, is a sign which reads as per the photograph alongside.

Approximately 20 metres up Chapel Yard, on the left, is the entrance door to Osmotherley Methodist Church.

Above the door to the church the lintel is carved with the date. Reputedley the oldest Methodist Church in the world. Apparently John Wesley preached at the barter table in the Village centre.
