The Doomsday Book suggests there has been a church on this site for a thousand years.The present church dates from 1763.

St. Cuthberts Parish Church and Mausoleum
<= Saint Cuthbert's Parish Church showing the Turner Mausoleum, on the right, which was built onto the earlier church in 1740 by Chomley Turner in memory of his son Marwood William Turner. It holds various statues of the Turner family who were the local landowners for 200 years from 1632.
